NWLL Charity shop to Support IT Requirements in the Local Community
And Roe Valley Support and Advice Centre
NWLL moved into the shop on Ballykelly Mainstreet in 2019 with the intention of providing support with IT requirements for the local community, but due to the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent lockdown were unable to operate reliably in 2020. Since steps were taken to begin lifting the lockdown in late 2021 we have great hopes for a better year to come for everyone.
Funds raised in the shop go directly towards helping the local community, and our office staff are always happy to assist those who are unfamiliar with certain aspects of IT, such as the setting up of a new email address or the operation of a new smart device. The shop itself is manned mainly by volunteers who have graciously offered up their time during the week, but our staff are always present onsite for situations in which their input is required.
The RVAR – Roe Valley Ancestral Researchers – historical library is stored by NWLL in the community room, and they occasionally operate through the shop to raise awareness of certain projects such as their work on We Count Too.
The advice centre operates every Thursday, and the advisers are happy to help with a selection of topics, including;
- Help in setting up your government gateway access
- Advice on state benefits
- Advice about state pension
- Advice about universal credit
- Advice about personal independence pension
- Advice about attendance allowance
