Lifelong Learning

Northwest Lifelong Learning Ltd

is an educational charity set up in March 2003 offering ICT and employability programmes. It became a Company Limited by Guarantee in May 2010 following participation in a programme in the NW run by Workspace Magherafelt, in conjunction with Invest NI.  This was prompted by the need to become self sustaining, in order to allow the charity to survive in harder economic times, which were appearing on the horizon from 2008 onwards. The charity has always majored in ICT projects, many funded by EU programmes and NWLL Ltd has been a Microsoft partner since 2003. Except for minor grant aid, all EU funding ceased in March 2011, staff levels of 12 could not be sustained and were reduced to 4 in Dec 2012 as the charity was forced to re-locate to Ballykelly due to the need for major repairs in the community house in Limavady after flooding.  NWLL no longer has paid staff and is run by volunteer Directors, with all training transferred to Ceres Europe (NI) Ltd who is one of our partners.

Northwest Lifelong Learning has always had a strong volunteer base as well, offering work placements to schools, charities and industry. As we major in community education, we still assist those who find it difficult to re-enter a school or college, instead still focussing on finding the cheapest option for employability qualifications via E-learning or assisting with one-to-one training in our Support Centre in Ballykelly. When we needed some help with painting in our new location in Ballykelly, we were put in touch with the probation service as a community service offering placements to meet their needs.

Northwest Lifelong Learning is still the charity arm of Ceres Europe (NI) Ltd which operates under cooperative principles at 32 Main Street, Ballykelly.  The Charity has an open exam facility at the rear of the building for Pearson & AAT exams.  The charity shop front is Roe Valley Support & Advice Centre.

Our HMRC registration number is XR64989 and our NI Charity Number is NIC104592. This allows us to keep doing the free and subsidised employability training we enjoy doing so much. It also allows a much wider suite of qualifications via all the training partners within the group of partners. Money is always limited, but if you need to ask for help just lift the phone and ring 028 7776 4429 to get re-directed to a Director or email eaferguson53@gmail.com.
